Pattern Making: Clone Your Clothes
Make a pattern out of your favorite piece of clothing without taking it apart! Choose a wardrobe staple -- something with simple construction that you love to wear because it fits you well. We will walk through direct measuring, tracing, and draping methods to draft a pattern. You'll mark your pattern pieces with the grain direction; seam allowances, notches, darts, pleats, and button / zipper placement. You'll also create a sewing order of step-by-step instructions. By the end of the class, you'll take home a pattern that is ready for sewing.
This 2-part class is open to intermediate makers who are comfortable making clothes from patterns. You should have basic familiarity with seam allowances, pattern markings, etc. Check with the instructor for approval on your garment before the class begins. We recommend starting with something simple such as a shirt, pants, a skirt, or simple dress; heavily tailored or structured garments aren't recommended due to time limitations.
